The Ultimate Guide to Scottish Elopements

I’ve been photographing elopements all over Scotland for around 10 years now, so I thought that it would be a good idea to create an ultimate guide for those of you that are considering eloping to Scotland for an intimate wedding celebration.

I’ve included lots of (hopefully) useful information on… Where to start? Where to stay? What to wear? Where to fly to? Who will marry us? What’s a first look/reveal? Who will do my makeup? How long will it take? Do we need to drive… and loads more little nuggets of wisdom.

If there’s something that I haven’t covered in my guide and you’ve still got some questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’d be more than happy to help you out.

So strap on your hiking boots, grab some whisky and let me take you on a tour of the Scottish Highlands, Islands and everywhere in between.

Shiver Me Timbers! An Incredible Wedding on a Ship in Edinburgh, Scotland

I had such an amazing experience photographing Katie & Blair’s incredible wedding on Fingal. I mean, how many people can say that they got married on an actual shipt!? Not many! Well, Katie and Blair are now those people. They did it!

I was really excited for this wedding for a while as it’s always fun to shoot a venue that I’ve never photographed before, but when that venue is a real boat in Edinburgh, I was a little extra excited.

Having said that, the venue is only a small part of any venue. It’s all about the shipmates, and this vessel had a fine bunch of sailors aboard… I’ll stop with the nautical chat now, I promise!

Katie and Blair are such an awesome couple and it was a total privilege to be part of their amazing wedding day. Everything about their wedding was so good. The laughs, the emotional ceremony, the brilliant speeches and the exceptional dancing. What a day!

Melville Castle Wedding

This was my first time at Melville Castle, Lothian. It’s a really lovely place and not too far from Edinburgh. This wedding took place in the heart of winter. The winter low light was really beautiful and created some really great shadows on the castle, which allowed me to be creative with the light. The bride and groom were really fun to work with and the day flowed really naturally which allowed me to capture the day in the candid manner in which I like to work.

Amanda & Ankur - Cameron House Hotel Wedding

Amanda & Ankur had the most amazing winter wedding at Cameron House, Loch Lomond. It was an absolute privilege and a pleasure to be part of their beautiful wedding day… and what a day it was! So much fun, a load of laughter and a hell of a lot of dancing!

Loch Lomond looked unbelievable. The winter light was perfect and the snowy top of Ben Lomond dominated the skyline. As awesome as the location was, none of it compared to Amanda in her dress, elegantly floating down the aisle to see Ankur for the first time. They were also brave and willing enough to negotiate the muddy beach pictures down by the loch… maybe that part wasn’t quite as elegant. It was worth it though. Ha!

It was so great to be in the company of so many great guests and capture them all party throughout the day.

Congratulations Amanda & Ankur! You guys are awesome!
