Scottish Highlands Wedding
Highland wedding Photographer
There’s no better wedding to photograph than a DIY farm wedding. There’s something so unique and special about using your own bit of land to create some unforgettable memories. Sam’s parent’s farm near Inverness acted as the most amazing wedding venue for the day. The rustic charm of the farmhouses, barns and even their own wee bothy up a hill were something that most would dream about.
All of that was beautiful but the most impressive part was the surrounding landscape and hills, so Katie and Sam decided to take all of their guests for a hike through the wild mountain heather and up a hill to one of the most dramatic and beautiful ceremony locations I’ve seen. Sure, they made over 100 guests hike for over 30 minutes to get to the top, but it was bloody well worth it.
It was super windy and many true gentlemen were required to provide their coats to their shivering partners, but that all added to the charm and the adventurous spirit that this wedding was all about.
Whilst hiking up the hill with the wedding party, I had to stop a couple of times, firstly to catch my breath, but more importantly, to drink in the atmosphere and once again be thankful that this is actually my job. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a lot of those moments and none of them are taken for granted.
The celebrations continued back at the barn, which had painstakingly been built and set up for this momentous occasion. The drinks were flowing, the food was incredible and the party continued long into the wee hours.
Katie, Sam and their families were such amazing, generous and welcoming hosts and it was an absolute pleasure to capture such a once in a lifetime occasion.
